Good Morning, afternoon or evening depending where you are in the world.
I’ve had a very busy few days since the last T day, we decided after having problems with our car that we would look for another one as we drive usually twice a year from Spain to England so need reliability, we saw a car we liked and was told two weeks, that was a shock, we were expecting six weeks, anyway to cut a LONG story short, from ordering it on Monday morning by 7pm Wednesday we were driving home in our new car! Talk about frantic, organising new insurance documents, money transfers, then an hours instruction on how to use all the gadgets, our old car being twenty years old only had a cassette player and no mod cons, now our iPhone rings on screen, etc, etc, our brains were frazzled by the time we arrived home, we are quite computer savvy but having it all in a car is quite another thing, also having no key,!!
Thank goodness for YouTube and the manual, I had my first drive yesterday, today I drove to the beach for our walk, it's lovely to drive but having six gears was a challenge!
Of course within ten minutes of getting home a photo had been sent out to our family showing their Dad with his new toy, he told them he wasn't worried about spending the money as it was only their inheritance, DIL thought that was very amusing.
We had lunch our with our friends last week, same restaurant and no photos, too busy chatting!! In the course of the conversation our friends were saying they had new neighbours and whilst chatting to them started to tell them about a mosaic they were doing, their neighbour said he knew someone who had made a massive mosaic years ago, they then realised that they were both talking about the same Jan, me !
This is my mosaic, just over six feet high and about 30 feet long, it took ten months to complete.
Before we moved to Spain on TV a gardener made a small one as a focal point, when we moved in I decided to have a go! Ten months later! Yes it took that long, Steve smashed the tiles, I roughly drew the palm trees and mountains and then painstakingly stuck the tiny pieces on, we used to go around at night into gardens of unoccupied villas, the workers would just throw the spare tiles away so we collected them for the sky and the dark ones for the sea.
My drink this week was going to be a drink in the outer part of the pineapple with juice and fizzy water mixed together, our son gave us this gadget that cuts pineapples up, it’s amazing how easy it is, we had fresh pineapple and Greek yoghurt and honey for afters, unfortunately we cut too deep and made a hole in the bottom, lesson learnt for next time.
My drink today was Elderflower Cordial with fizzy water, too warm for tea, very refreshing, I buy ice now as they last much longer in Summer, the ones you made yourself are too small and sometimes have melted away before you get outside!
Thanks to all my visitors last week and kind comments, I hope you all have a great week and are enjoying some good weather.

Your new car sounds wonderful, have fun with it! Love the mosaic. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThat car sound terrific! Enjoy! Great mosaic! Happy T-Day! Susi
ReplyDeleteyour mosaic looks great, but i wish i could enlarge the photo;)
ReplyDeletehappy t-day!
Congratulations on your new car! Reliability is important, and as my car is a 1991 I know that older cars can't always be counted on for long trips.
ReplyDeleteThat mosaic is gorgeous! I like pineapple, but I don't think I've ever seen a gadget like that. Cool! It'd be nicer than the canned pineapple I use, I'm sure. Happy T Tuesday :)
Your new car sounds wonderful and you'll get use to it in no time 😁. The comment your OH made about the inheritance made me smile too ...lol! Wow, your mosaic looks amazing and the perfect backdrop for your swimming pool - beautiful 😀. Wishing you a happy T Day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteGetting a new car is exciting. But I'm sure the changes are dramatic with your previous car being 20 years old. (I try to keep my car as long as I can, but they've only lasted about 10 years for me.) That mosaic is beautiful. Clever idea to collect discarded tiles, to use. The pineapple drink sounds like a great idea. Next time you'll know not to cut so deep. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to have your new car, you will soon get used to the gadgets.
ReplyDeleteYour Mosaic looks awesome it is a wonderful scene to create beside the pool.
Happy T day wishes Jan.

Oh, Jan, I didn't realize you went to England for your car! But, don't you love it? My car I got for my birthday last year was brand new and has the phone thing, and my phone isn't even an iPhone, just a Walmart flip phone. Love it when I can answer my phone on the steering wheel. So fun. Enjoy! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeletePS that pineapple thing sounds fun.
Enjoy your new ride! Fabulous mosaic. Wow, the patience to put that together. The pineapple gadget is cool. I love pineapple. Hot tea for me as it's still too cold for iced drinks. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mosaic you have created! It is amazing that you did that and it only took you 10 months. What a work of art.
ReplyDeleteYogurt, honey and pineapple sounds like a delicious meal. And that Elderflower cordial sounds like something I would love to try. Especially since it is fizzy.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Congrats on the new car. That is always a fun thing to get- but always expensive too. But I am most impressive with your tile wall. It is gorgeous. Good for you to keep at it for so long as the results are amazing. Hope it was a fantastic T day! Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely amazing mosaic. I'd like to see some detail pictures if you have any. I'm impressed withthe fact that you stuck with it all those months.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Sally's new car has all those conveniences, too. Her salesperson came to her house and helped her set up her phone and iPad to the car. I prefer old school, but it sounds like you finally got a wonderful new car.
ReplyDeleteI am in AWE of that mosaic wall. Those palm trees are stunning. I'm truly, truly impressed.
Loved reading about your elderflower cordial fizz sounds wonderful, too. Most impressive. Thanks for sharing your news, your awesome wall, and your Elderflower Cordial with us for T this Tuesday. So sorry I was late visiting. The good news is, my basement is now dry and there appears to be no mold, either.
Congratulations on the new car, Jan! It certainly has a lot of bells & whistles - especially compared to your 20 year-old model.
ReplyDeleteYour pool mosaic is fabulous!! I love hearing how you collected the tiles. Tile is so expensive.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Oh My! Your new car sounds great! I must say when we got our new car I missed having a CD player even though we can carry more music on a USB stick! Your mosaic is spectacular - I laughed at the thought of going out under the cover of darkness picking up leftover tiles! Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to get a new car- especially knowing it will be very reliable! But the pool mosaic- absolutely stunning!!! Happy T day!
