T is for Teapot

Another week gone by and time to join Elizabeth and Bleubeard once again.

Thank you for all your kind comments last week, I’m pleased to say that Steve’s scars are healing really well, I think due to the fact they are only slowly increasing his blood thinning meds, he had to stop taking them for three days before his op so his levels dropped quite a lot. He is still waiting for his follow up appointment with the surgeon, hopefully it will before the boys come over seeing as last time we were there over three hours even though he had an appointment time.

My drink related post for this week, this cute teapot and cup.

We were just passing a shop down a back street when I spotted them so I had to run back to take a photo!

I'm assuming it's a children’s teapot as it was in a toy shop but it's so cute.

We’ve had a lovely warm week, today we left home at 8am, had our walk, breakfast, did the shopping before stopping at the garage to fill up with diesel and check the pressure of the tyres as we suddenly had a light on the dashboard come on!!
It looked as if the back tyre was nearly flat by this time so we turned around to go back into town, had a coffee while it was fixed, it had a nail in it, honestly this last week has been very trying, Saturday Steve was cleaning the pool and two tiles were sucked off the bottom, on the way home that morning a car swerved when overtaking us and flicked a stone up, cracked the windscreen, yesterday my printer stopped working,
Good old google, Steve cleaned the printer head and hey presto he's got it working again! so now we are waiting for the pool man to come around with his diving gear to fix the pool, saves draining it as it takes two days to empty and almost as long to fill it up again.  After the doctors tomorrow morning we have an hours drive to Cartagena to have the windscreen fixed. Who said retirement was boring, LOL

The school kids have been spending time on the beach body boarding, canoeing etc, the waves here on the med are only about two inches high so no surfing. Three coaches arrived as we were having breakfast, so about 150 of them all singing, clapping and cheering their way along the Paseo, it’s been going on every day and it’s so lovely to see them.
They are supervised by all young people, I guess it’s a company that does it as they all wear bright tea shirts, it looks like they have so much fun.

I just wish I could have taken a photo of all of them, it was a joyful sight seeing so many marching along with their backpacks.

Our traffic islands, something I'm not sure you have in the USA, around here have some kind of theme, well the one going in the Puerto has this Phoenician Boat on it, it is a replica of the one they found in the bay, quite impressive I think.

I will try to take photos of the others as they all represent something from this area!

Thanks for stopping by, Happy T Day!

  1. Oh my what a time you have had! Hope it's all uphill from now on. Love the Phoenecian boat! We have very few traffic islands in and around my area and they usually have some flowers and maybe a small statue and that's it. Happy T day!

  2. I'm glad hubby's scars and he are healing well. You sure didn't need all these other weird stresses right now. Gosh, I can't believe the long string of mishaps you had last week.

The Mad Hatter's teapot and cup are adorable.

We have decorated traffic islands here in Mexico, especially in Guadalajara. They've recently erected a series of bronze statues that I absolutely love. I'll look for photos to share at T.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  3. That kind of excitement we can all do without! I trust your next week will be calmer and easier.

Cars here tend to flatten anything in the road -"traffic island" or not- and traffic islands placed for pedestrian safety get removed because they're seen as hazards to the vehicles that drivers run into them. I'd love to see what putting large/expensive/sculptural elements here would do ;)

    Happy T Tuesday!

  6. NO traffic islands here, as we are far from any sea. Although, we do have an island like protuberance in our river with a large monument. Maybe I will show photos of that at tea someday. Jan, I have been to Cartagena! On our Panama Cruise, it was one of our ports, right after going through the canal. We took a bus tour through there. All I remember was how hot and humid it was; I think we were there in February. Hope Steve gets a good report at the doctors. Great post today!

  7. Out of frustration, I am at my neighbor’s house across the street using her computer. I told her I would be brief and leave this quick message. I have been without electricity AGAIN, this time for over 18 hours. I can’t ask my foodie friend Sally, because she lives on the same side of my street and her electricity is out, too. I will be by to visit once my electricity has returned, but for now, please be assured, I would be sharing a drink with you right now, if I could. Thanks for understanding.

  8. Wonderful teapot and cup, they are Disney characters from Beauty and the Beast - the teapot is Mrs.Potts and the teacup is Chip šŸ˜€. Sounds like you've had a wonderful week and I've noticed a lot of school kids on our beach too. Wishing you a very happy T Day! Jo x

  9. That teapot and cup remind me of a Disney movie, but I can't remember which one. I'm sorry you had a run of bad luck this past week. I find anything involving car problems to be annoying and time consuming. I'm glad to hear at least you got your printer working again. If that "traffic island" is a rotary / circular type drive area, we do have those in the US, but not too many where I live. (I don't like rotaries, because I'm not used to driving in them, so I find them challenging when I encounter them.) It's fascinating to hear each traffic island there has a different theme. Happy T-Day!

I have never heard of traffic Islands but I love that they are themed. Sounds like a fun thing to draw tourist.
