Hello Ladies, I’ve been MIA due to being ill, I had some kind of gastric infection for two weeks, after not being able to get a doctors appointment for a week my husband took me to the emergency department, happily for me it was my own doctor who was on duty, I was pleased as she knows me and speaks English, we had been googling words to describe my sickness just in case the doctor didn't speak any English.
I had a jab in the bottom for sickness and pills but it took me six days before I could eat, I’m still feeling weak even after three weeks but now my husband is on crutches, after we had to stand in line for four hours for his second vaccine and my first, he’s somehow hurt his foot, I actually sat in the car for the first three hours as I couldn’t stand in the sun after feeling so ill. There’s been so many complaints to the council they had to put a letter online to apologise although last week it was just the same when we drove past.
Between our family we have had three of the vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson so it will be interesting how we all fare.
Luckily my husband can still drive and I needed to shop so we decided to try a beach side cafe for breakfast, we could park right outside so no walking for him, gorgeous views!
View from the decking, these are Pop up Cafes that are built in the Spring and usually disappear during the Autumn.
This is the view to the right of the Cafe, that's the small Church I've shown before but from the back.
Looking towards the small Marina.
I'm guessing these are where people sit in the evenings when it's cooler!
My drink for this week, shame the coffee was in a cardboard cup but at least it was a patterned one and it was good coffee.
Our small veg plot is growing well, the strawberries are growing so much, I’ve had to freeze most of them as we’ve had too many to eat.
Sunday I made strawberry Fluff, weight watches recipe, just Greek yoghurt and a packet of jelly(jello) whipped up, unfortunately it didn’t all set!
It was tasty but more like a semi set milkshake, LOL
I took this photo yesterday and it has set much better, I had to spoon it into the dishes so it doesn't look as neat as on the recipe!
I’m pleased that our currant bushes have fruit on them for the first time, I think they heard the rumour that this year was their last chance, I’m happy to see one of the bushes is the red currant, they are slowly turning red, the black currant is growing but no fruit but I think that will survive for another year as that’s actually my husbands favourite for jam so hopefully next year it will fruit.
These are our bush Tomatoe plants, the strangest ones I've ever seen, they are only about 8 inches high although we've had quite a few, enough to make three pasta sauces!
We've now planted some normal cherry Tomatoe plants so they will fruit as these are finishing, well that's the plan.
I haven’t managed to craft at all as it’s just too much effort but hopefully next week we will both be fit as fiddles as my Mum used to say! So until then, keep safe!
Jan x

Hi Jan, sorry you were so ill, and glad you are feeling better now. Hope you all have no side effects from the vaccines. Your garden is looking great! Going out for breakfast sounds good, too. Your weather looks better than ours! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHi Jan I am sooo sorry you have been ill, but it worked out being able to see your own doctor. and to stand in the hot sun for hours for the shot is horrible-hope your husband is doing better as well. Your garden is growing well-enjoyed the photos-hugs Happy T Hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteIsn´t this just crazy?! My 82-year old tennant had to wait over 10 months with problems of her hip getting fixed!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found help!
Even in that heat - oh, send it over? We freeze our butts off still.
Oh. Seeing your pics I really would love to move.
And my strawberries... they need bees! Your dish looks yummy, happy T-Day!
Loved seeing all your plants. That is great that you have so many strawberries you have to freeze them. Your strawberry dessert looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you were ill but glad to hear you are recovering. That is crazy that you had to wait 4 hours in line for the shot. It sounds like they need to come up with a better system.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Glad you are feeling better Jan. Gastric issues are never fun. I love seeing the views of the area where you live. It looks beautiful. Very different from where I live. And I love seeing currents. I wish we had them here, but I never see them. What do you use them for? Fresh or jam? And you mentioned the electric fence around my beehive in your comment. We need it for bears. Black bears, but they can make such a mess and ruin a hive. That's why. Hope you have a wonderful T day and continue to feel better Jan. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteStomach troubles- yuck:(:( Glad to know you are feeling much better finally.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful surroundings and views. And n -a ahem-healthier version of a strawberry shake sounds wonderful. Happy T day!
So glad to see you back sharing T today. Sounds like a really bad problem. At least you are finally aboe to eat and drink, which makes your gastric problems less severe. I enjoyed reading about the pop up food and drink places.
ReplyDeleteSorry abut the long lines to get your shots. It was very well organized where I live. I had two choices, Moderna or J & J, which is what I chose. One and done.
I know the take out cup isn't what you would have chosen, but at least it was a pretty take-out cup. And I love the strawberry bushes that seem to be doing so well, too.
Thanks so much for sharing your trip out and to the coffee cafe, as well as your wonderful fruit and veggie plants with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jan. SO nice to see you here, too.
I hope that you are feeling better! The blue skies and sunshine are so cheery, you live in a beautiful place 😀. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you have been ill. And glad you are feeling better now. A four hour wait for vaccination? That is badly organized. Luckily here we can stay in our cars (with airco on should it be hot). But they work so fast the queue is like a slowly moving tail back. I didn't have to wait at all (Drive-in) and hubby is having his in hospital under doctor's supervision because of his chemo.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing photos of the beach and the chiringuito where you had breakfast.
Congratulations on your red currants. Keep us posted on that one. Did you see our gooseberries?
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I'm so sorry to hear you were feeling so poorly...and now your hubby on crutches. Lovely photos and wonderful looking plants.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
I'm pleased that your own doctor was on duty or it could have taken while! Hope you are feeling much better now! How lovely to go out for breakfast - they are lovely views. You fruit and veg are certainly growing well. Strawberry fluff sounds ver refreshing! Belated Happy T Day - been having too many days out!! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better, Jan. Hope your hubby is too. Shame that all that had to happen. My hubby is the same with long stand or walks having had partial amputation and many feet problems. Such lovely views of the beach and your fun garden (yum! I love strawberries). Hugz
