WOYWW501

Can you believe another week has passed?  Since we stopped working very often we don’t actually know what day of the week it is, we go to watch our local football team play on Sundays so that usually starts the week off but with Christmas, New Year and The Three Kings we have had our weeks turned upside down so we’ve been thinking Tuesdays are Saturdays etc, thank goodness this week we are back to normal, well almost as the Spanish locals had Monday off too!

My desk this week is, well a mess, I take part in a Christmas card challenge all year round with the ladies over on Splitcoast Stampers so after our walk along the seafront, breakfast and our two hours of re grouting the roof tiles, yes we are still on that job, I have been sorting out my “Christmas drawer”

Anyway I’m still in the middle of sorting through it ready for the first challenge, I’m also trying to find the best place for my cutter, stamp platform and other gadgets, I seem to run out of worktops so keep having to move them around as I use them, the photo only shows one and part of a drawer unit, there is three altogether!  better not let a certain someone hear me say that seeing as he’s still going on about buying a “piece of glass” , LOL.

In between doing that I decided to do some stenciling!! It came over me after seeing a challenge that I wanted to have a play, firstly my glitter paste was too dry so I added some grunge paste but then realised that it was beige, then noticed there wasn’t much glitter left so I mixed some glitter in,  it was still too thick and my Gesso hasn't been opened for so long the top wouldn't budge, so I gave up and spread it on, I left it drying, it’s not looking too good and it was an absolute nightmare getting it off the stencil,

Hopefully everyone has had a productive week, crafting  that is so I will say bye for now and pop over to Julia's place for a peek at what you've all been creating.

  1. Nice to see that someone else is having a sort out! I'm glad that you managed to get the glittery grunge off the stencil.

  2. There are certain items that you need to use and need to have handy, but they do take up a lot of space don't they. Good luck with all the sort out. Happy WOYWW, thanks for sharing. Love and God Bless, Caro x (#27)

  3. I think the all year Christmas challenges are a great idea and well done you for joining in. There are lots of crafters at the moment having a sort out it must be that time of the year I guess. Have a great woyww and a happy creative week, Angela x10x

  4. Hi Jan, what a nightmare with the paste! I agree glitter paste can be a devil to get off stencils, I usually have a tub with a lid with water in it close by so I can just drop them in. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

  7. I'm having the same problem regarding what day of the week it is. I think once January is out the way I will be ok haa haa!
Some pastes can be a stinker to get off those stencils, I always make sure I have a bowl of water ready to soak mine asap, it usually does the job.

  8. I think that is one of the joys of retirement - although it is sometimes embarrassing when you mix up your days. I find I live via a calendar these days. Would be lost without one.
My friend uses one of those Ranger Scrub it's to clean her stencils - I like the white magic Sponges.

  10. Nice to see a busy desk after the holiday season, Jan - wish I could say the same about mine. Like you, I have several “desks” and they are all usually covered with stuff! I was thinking of getting a big shot but then wondered where on earth I would put it... I am blessed with a lovely room with plenty of space but my goodness after 5 years it’s full, full, full!!! Sorry to hear about your nightmare with the glitter paste. I am sure that after all those additions, even if it doesn’t look very nice, it will make a nice texture background to paint over lol! You know what they say - “in mixed media, there are no mistakes, just more layers”! I have a sink in my room and it doesn’t take a moment to rinse things off before they dry on, but it’s hard to remember sometimes when you are in the zone. I agree with you that the holiday period can mess with your routine - even though we are retired, I do have a routine and generally don’t have any problem remembering what day it is but all around me the world seems to descend into chaos over Christmas and New Year!

Thank you for your visit, and I’m glad you like my knitting and my bread - I had to laugh at your comment about the birds!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  11. Hi Jan, every time I go in my craft room I have a little tidy up. It's not terribly messy, and I do have a lot of worktop space compared to some people, but it only takes a couple of projects on the go to run out of room. Have a wonderful crafty week, hugs Heather xx #24
