T is for to Pack
Thanks to all my visitors last week, after seeing all the artwork on display I’m looking forward to getting home to start some of my own, I also have plenty to scrap too. I’ve been watching some YouTube videos of photo journals too to give me some ideas.
Some of you commented on the beach huts so I’ve taken a photo of them from the beach side.
I think they are used for storing chairs etc to take on to the beach, some have camping stoves to make tea but many people like to sit outside of them enjoying the views. When I was young you could rent them for the day, my grandparents did once as grandad loved nothing more than having a cuppa on the beach, in those days there was always a cafe selling a jug of tea but he was very excited to actually be able to make his own, we also had a little camping Gaz stove and my dad would fry sausages to make sandwiches for Lunch.
Around here the cheapest I’ve seen for sale was somewhere around £26,000, I saw one once for sale for £56,000, I’m not kidding, it had been beautifully decorated and had a mezzanine with a day bed, as far as I know they don’t even have running water they are quite small as you can see, some are decorated better but it was too cold to walk further to find one!!
We took a quick visit to Canterbury, we didn’t go into the city centre but this is the Westgate Towers, you drive through it going into the City, it has a museum apparently.
This street is very Olde Worlde, this is a Pub as we call them in England, I couldn’t get a good photo of the whole street as we were in the car and too much traffic was passing but most of the houses are very old with timbers on the outside walls.
This week our GS is only at Kindergarten for three mornings so it’s going to be very hectic as he’s not one to sit still for very long! It’s also our last week in England. Fingers crossed the gales die down and the ferries are on schedule as they’ve been cancelled the last two weekends on our Sunday night sailing!
S forgot to post my drink related pic, a senior moment, this was my breakfast yesterday, bacon and grilled tomatoes sandwich with tea, I had started to eat it before I remembered to take a photo!!

Hi Jan, so glad you were able to take some close ups of these little huts. they are adorable-I can't get over how close together they are. It would be nice to have a little stove for cooking, and a bed for sleeping over. I see no parking though for a car?
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing more photos of England. Hoping the weather clears up for you-Happy T hugs Kathy
Lovely beach huts, and Canterbury is a lovely place, used to enjoy going there to stay with my aunt when I was living in England. Your breakfast looks great, too. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteBeach huts are something we don't have here in the US, and I think they are really adorable, but never really knew what they were for. Thanks so much for sharing that. I take it people own them or rent them for a season? Sounds like you are getting ready to go home. Hope that is a good trip. And that breakfast sandwich sounds yummy. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing more about those charming beach huts. Crazy expensive for something so small and without hardly any amenities, but they always say "you're paying for the beach side spot". I know I'd love walking about Canterbury as i love all these old European towns. Thanks for sharing whilst having your sandwich and tea. Hope all goes well the remainder of your stay and return home. happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI AM BAAAAACK! What expensive little beach huts! Jan, I never even remember to take a camera or iPad to even take a photo when we go out! LOL Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteThe beach huts are cool! I'd love to join you for that breakfast. It'd suit me perfectly :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOh Jan, I love the beach huts. One year I hosted AJJ with summertime love. I did some research on beach huts, which, as Erika pointed out, you don't see in the states. I think they are strictly a European phenomenon. I was drawn to their colorful exteriors. Thanks for sharing the beach side of these huts and explaining the current costs.
ReplyDeleteThe photos you shared of Canterbury were brilliant. I would love to visit there some day. Old world charm intrigues me and your photos were lovely and gave a feel of the town.
I hope you are able to get back to Spain soon. I can't believe your passage has been cancelled two weeks in a row. I guess it's better than trying to cross in gale force winds, though.
Even though I'm a vegetarian, your breakfast sounds great. I am now very hungry (grin). Thanks for sharing your lovely photos of the beach huts, your trip through Canterbury, and your breakfast sandwich and tea with us for T this Tuesday. Hope you make it home THIS coming weekend.
Great to see those beach huts close up. We never had one as a child. My childhood beach memories are from St Ives, Cornwall, where I would go and stay with my auntie Grace every summer. She lived within easy walking distance to the beach, so we never needed a beach hut.Precious memories...
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the photos of Canterbury. I have just finished reading a book about Canterbury called Bell Harry. It is the history of the cathedral through the ages told through a story. I enjoyed it very much. The West gate features heavily in it. It's nice to see what it looks like.
Your bacon butty makes my mouth water!
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Lisca we spent our Honeymoon in St Ives, before the days of going to foreign counties, I bought a rolling pin there too and still use it almost 49 years later.xx
DeleteSo lovely to see your travels! Canterbury looks fabulous and what could be better than a bacon sandwich for breakfast especially when the bacon's crispy š. Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI love beach huts but as you say they are totally different these days....and expensive! I would love to visit Canterbury...maybe one day! I hope the weather improves for your ferry journey! Bacon sandwiches are so delicious! Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing another photo of the beach huts. Wow, they cost that much and don't even have running water?! Interesting. I like the photos from Canterbury. Your food looks good. Happy Belated T-Day!
