T is for Trouble

Hello Ladies, firstly I need to say sorry for causing mayhem last week, I was a bit scared of commenting after I read the post about my link in case it caused problems,  I hope this week will link as it should, I'm still not sure why it was taking me into edit after I had published my post.

This week I will show my T related drink first before I forget, another Takeaway cup I think from the ferry coming back last year, we spent most of the time in the cabin but ventured out once for a quick coffee.

This week we were allowed to venture to the nearest town Cartagena, we haven't been but somehow we feel free just knowing we can, LOL crazy but luckily we are happy to walk, shop and potter around at home.I have been baking, I've tried to use a few lemons so I made a lemon loaf cake but it only used one lemon!!!

The top has lines where I tipped it out of the loaf tine when it was too warm and it rolled over on to the top, still tasted lovely, sometimes when it's a few days old I warm a slice and have it with Greek yoghurt, I like it warm with custard too.

I made some some lemon curd,  that used six lemons! I try to give the lemons away but all of our neighbours  have lemon trees, the lady next door takes a few every so often, I leave a bag on the gate, she only likes two at a time, for her G&T, they last her for ages, usually if the family are coming over I slice and freeze them for their drinks.

Lots of new buds on the trees too, last year the lime, grapefruit and orange trees only had a few fruits appear, not sure why, I had a good crop of Kumquats so lots of marmalade, I've also put some Kumquats in Brandy, no one actually drinks brandy so I thought I would use it, I'm trying to make a liqueur, well that's the plan.

Must dash the wood delivery has arrived, a ton of logs to stack!!

Keep safe everyone, thanks to the ladies who were brave enough to visit lat week.

Happy T Day

Jan x

  1. Love the cup, so joyful and bright!LOL it rolled over?! Reminds me of a beer can chicken we once made, it tended to fall to the side in the heat!
Lemon trees, oh, lucky you. And so beautiful.
    Have a happy T-Day despite the wood-work!

  2. Loving that smiling brightly coloured cup and wow, your lemon tree looks amazing! So lovely to be able to pick them for your baking too and that lemon loaf looks so yummy - perfect 😁. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  3. I can totally imagine the joy of having fire wood delivered. Even though it means work to stack it all. It makes me feel safe in the knowledge that we can keep warm. Here, away from the coast, it gets very cold in winter, and the log fire is the only means of heating our living quarters. (I tell a lie, our stove also takes almond shells and olive pips.)
Your coffee cup from the ferry is great!
I love your lemon tree. Our climate is too cold unfortunately. Lemon curd is a good thing to make with a glut of lemons. The cake looks lovely too. You could make a lemon drizzle cake. That needs an additional lemon to drizzle juice (mixed with sugar)on top.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  4. The land where the lemon trees bloom is a dream place in the poems of one famous author, and it seems like a dream to us in the very cold parts of the world also. Enjoy!

  5. Ah, the internet lol There's always something, isn't there!

Lemon loaf cake sounds like something I'd like. It must be such a treat to have your own lemon tree :) and lime, grapefruit and orange trees, too? Sweet! Happy T Tuesday!

  7. Wow, Jan. Your T post took us right to you this week! Wonderful.

Your lemon cake looks wonderful. I thought it was a decorative swirl until you told us you had actually dropped it from the pan (grin). I'll still call it a swirl.

You are SO lucky to have lemon, orange, and kumquat trees on your property. Right now, lemons cost a fortune in the stores where I live.

I really like the take out cup. It has so much texture. It's also perfect as your drink of choice, along with your lovely lemon tree and lemon loaf cake for T this Tuesday.

  9. Delicious looking lemon cake. how fun that you can go outside and pick lemons off the tree. I think I would have a difficult time using all those as well but freezing slices is a great idea. You can also dry the rind to use in tea.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  13. Jan, we both made it this week. I hadn't posted for a month! I love to look at your lemon tree. So, are you telling me I can freeze lemons? I did not know that. Your bread looks yummy. I love lemon bread, lemon bars, lemon cake, lemon pie. Did I tell you we like lemon? :) Happy T Day!
