Hello Ladies of the T gang, another Tuesday where we join up with Elizabeth and Bleubeard, sure rolls around quickly.
I mentioned last week we were having some logs delivered, we usually have new logs in summer but the wooden base of our log shed was sinking so we thought we would take it up and replace it with gravel.
We didn't realise just how many logs we had left
we think that's about half a ton.
The empty log shed holds one and a half tons of logs
We built the shed ourselves, I now do any climbing jobs since my husbands knees became a problem.
I wish I had the photos of me clinging to the Balustrades at the back while trying to lay the tiles down, not a pretty sight!
That's is our raised veg plot, we have red, white and black currant bushes and strawberries that are still flowering at this time of year. You can see the parsley grows well too
Still no tomatoe plants until next month.
So when the man from the wood yard arrives he backs his lorry up our drive, you can see there's not much room for error, he always does it first time, no messing. He tips the logs and off he goes.
I struggle to do that with our car!
This is what a ton of logs look like, half way through it seems to feel as if they are multiplying!!!
That's our new water barrel, we bought it back from England as strangely we couldn't find one over here. We built the platform with concrete and then I tiled it, we can now get the watering can under the tap, much easier than having to lower the bucket into the water.
Filled to the brim, only four logs didn't fit in, by the time I had put in the top board I had to stand on a small step to reach, we put up the boards to hold them in and keep any rain getting in.
It took us just over an hour to stack the new logs and then put the old logs back into the shed, we were pretty exhausted by the end of it I can tell you
We also chopped the old floor up for kindling so now we have a stack for next winter.
My drink this week, I found these fruit cordials in the English shop, they are delicious, you only need a drop and I add them to fizzy water, very refreshing, I like the raspberry one the best.
I also buy Elderflower presse that makes a refreshing drink in water, or White Wine!!! Very refreshing in summer with lots of ice.
The weather here is much the same cloudy and misty, the sun hasn't made an appearance until 5pm which is annoying, no news on the Vaccine although over 80's were supposed to get it starting last week, we also read that from tomorrow we can eat inside restaurants, I'm quite happy staying on the terrace to eat breakfast for now.
Nothing new to report from not so sunny Spain, thank you to all my visitors last week, keep safe ladies.

That's an amazing job you pulled off. First laying down the new gravel and then replacing your logs. I'm impressed that you got the old logs and the new logs in that shed. It's really a chore I would not look forward to each year. You certainly did a great job, and your raised bed looks great, too.
ReplyDeleteThose cordials look yummy. I'm with you on the preferred flavors. Somehow the strawberry/cucumber sounds more savory than sweet.
Thanks for taking us with you while you filled your "shed" with logs for the winter, then followed with those tasty looking cordials you shared with us for T this Tuesday.
I wouldn't like to drive along that narrow drive either! The cordials look great, I remember Robinson's from my childhood. Happy T day, stay safe, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteImpressive job! In the Henry Ford house (now a public building in Dearborn, MI) there's a fireplace with the following motto in stone: "Chop your wood and it will warm you twice." Seems as if you are on the same track as that.
ReplyDeletebe safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Fascinating! How nice to have a shed just the right size. The raspberry cordial sounds like it'd be my favorite, too :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI remember stacking lots of wood. It is such a job! Good for you! Now we burn sawdust bricks we can buy called biobricks. I think wood burns better but not having to go outside to get wood is better for us and our really cold winters. That cordial drink sounds really refreshing and tasty. Thanks for sharing. Hope you get your vaccine soon. And happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteNice wood shed. I too use to burn wood for heat and cooking. I am so glad I don't have to any more. We cut our own trees and cut the wood to size. Nice to have it delivered. The US is supposed to be for 65 and older for the vaccines but I can't get an appt anywhere. There are very limited vaccines in my state. It's a mess over here. LOL Anyway, have a very nice day in sunny Spain.
ReplyDeleteThat is one very nice organized shed for all that wood! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI recall having cordials/syrups like these when in France. Family always had them on the table at mealtimes to add to water if we desired. Hope the sun comes shining your way very soon. Happy T day!
Well done for getting your wood sorted! I know all about it. Wood is our main source of heat but I also have a gas bottle heater and we have almond shell burners on every floor. We get a load like that a few times a year as I am a cold mortal and here in the Altaplano it's colder than on the coast.
ReplyDeleteI love those cordials. There is one called Spiced Berry Cordial but they only sell it in winter. (In the UK) I hope the English shops will be able to continue to source their stuff. It probably will become much more expensive. (Out of Eu import taxes). I haven't seen these cordials around. They look delicious. I only have the plain ones. Then when we go to Portugal to buy our wine, I buy the green mint one.
No sign of vaccins here in Granada province either.I don't know of anyone (regardless of age) who has had the vaccin. I feel relatively safe in our village, so I will just wait and see.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
LOL, I´d love to see you clinging to the Balustrades!
ReplyDeleteWow, that´s a lot of logs! Am I glad I just turn on the gas-heating.
My Mum was a driver like that, also, my Dad never managed (it was a normal car, but as narrow).
Your drink looks yummy, oh, I can´t wait for hot days and cold water with a lille yummy addition!
A happy T-day to you!
Wow, you did so well stacking all those logs! I bet you were both tired out at the end of it. Your log shed is gorgeous, loving your design 😁. Hoping you get your vaccinations soon! Take care and Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of work but you did a great job. Exhaustion is what comes to mind. I hope you were able to have a good day or two to rest.
ReplyDeleteYour drink looks very refreshing.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
That is a lot of work so you deserve whatever break and beverage you choose. I don't think I've ever seen a prettier shed. Impressive the truck can get down the narrow drive. I have trouble backing up and parallel parking, too. Vaccine rollouts have begun here. 65+ and now teachers so the schools can open up. Rollout running into problems because the website to book appointments is so difficult to use. Hopefully, they'll get that straightened out soon. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteJob well done I'd say! Truck drivers are a different breed from the rest of us drivers! I thought vaccines were going well in Spain - hope you get yours soon! We do seem to be doing extraordinarily well here! I don't think I want to eat indoors with others just yet either - not that we have a choice! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
