T is for Tuesday

Well it’s been a quieter week than last week, we did have a smile at our almost five year old GS, when we were chatting on Sunday, his Mum was getting ready to go to a cheese and wine party for her sisters Birthday, our GS said he didn't want to go as girls only talk about princesses and unicorns, LOL

Good news, my DH is getting his vaccine tomorrow, he had a phone call last night, in rapid Spanish but when they realised he wasn't Spanish  he slowed down enough to be understood, 11.33am, just love the Spanish,  we never get an appointment at ten past or half past always six minutes past or eighteen minutes past, not that they are ever on time, our Spanish friend said this morning it will probably be 1pm, ha.ha. we always ask now if they mean Spanish or English time, they find it amusing! I'm not in the 70+ age group so I have to wait.

Last Friday we went out for a Chinese meal, it must be 18 months since we last had one as we haven’t been going out for a lunch until a couple of weeks ago since well before lockdown

It’s a restaurant we haven’t been to before but it was well spaced out and very clean. It is opposite to one of the beaches but there’s no shade on the terrace and seeing as it was a warm day we chose to eat inside.

They first gave us prawn crackers with our menu, I’m not a big fan of them but I always end up eating them while deciding what to eat.

The menu as you can see it’s really a good menu and very cheap,  €6.50.

They do have a normal menu to choose from.

First course we chose Chinese salad and spring roll, we shared them as you can see.

Our main course we shared Rice Three delicious, Beef in Oyster sauce, noodles and chicken chow Mien.

We both decided the Beef was the tastiest but it was all lovely

Our drinks, I had the white wine and DH had the sin Alcohol beer, it did say on the menu drinks were not included but when we paid the bill she hadn't charged us, we didn't argue of course LOL

One meal this week was supposed to be Ribs but I couldn’t get any so I  bought what looked like the meat from the ribs, my DH cooked them Chinese style, also rice cooked with colorante, he likes it to look colourful,  I'm not sure if you can buy it in England but it’s used over here instead of saffron, so much cheaper too, used in Paella dishes.

We had so much rain last week especially Wednesday, all day, we did go out to shop and have breakfast, everywhere looked miserable but Thursday the sun came out so we had our walk, we did sit inside the cafe as it was a bit breezy but this was our view of the Marina.

This is the side street to the cafe, not quite so pretty but what always amuses me is that people in the apartments hang their washing out over  the street, something I would never do, hang my unmentionables where everyone can see them and have the risk of them blowing around the Paseo if it gets windy!

A Happy St Georges Day to all the English ladies on Friday, we usually have our first swim on that day but this year the pool isn't anywhere near warm enough to tempt me,

Happy T Day Ladies, thank you for visiting me last week and all your lovely comments, Stay Safe.

Jan x

  1. A Chinese restaurant does sound like a nice change, and your meal looks tempting. We don't like the Chinese restaurants near us very much so we haven't really missed them.

  2. Oh yum! Chinese food. I have never had prawn crackers. They sound interesting. Our menu's always come with fried noodles.
Love what you said about hanging unmentionables for all to see. I too would not be a fan of that.
    Happy Tea day,
    Kate

  3. I was a princess once (in a stupid theatre-play, and I didn´ t want to (kindy)).
    Clever GS!
Time.... I am German, says it all, right ;-)

    Yay for dining out!
Sharers everywhere :-) And wow for the free drinks!
And sitting in a café... we´re far from that, I´m happy for you!

    The laundry, LOL!

Happy T-Day, too cold for anything here , too.... but the sun is shining! x

  4. Nice that you could enjoy your Chinese food in a nice place. Good for you on the free drinks too;)
Never was a fan of hanging everything out on a washing line that is so publicly viewed. My French grandmother lived in an apartment complex on the third floor. There were laundry lines on the ground floor on the side yard and anyone who wanted could use the lines and hang out whatever they wanted. No thanks!
    Happy T day!

  5. Great that your hubby is having his vaccination. They phoned my husband too but they phoned on the morning he was due to have his chemotherapy, so i said I wanted to ask the oncologist. They said they'd phone at a later date but haven't so far. I'm expecting my call soon as I am 70 now.
That menu looks good and cheap too. The food looks really nice in your photos. So that is definitely one to remember. Although you live in Spain, you don't live anywhere near me, so I wouldn't be able to go to that restaurant. I'm sure there will be Chinese restaurants on the coast near us, but it's an hour and a half to the nearest coast in either direction (east or south). Before the pandemic we went to eat fish and chips as a special treat for my husband's birthday. Of course since the pandemic this has not been possible.
    Have a lovely T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  6. I smiled at your comment about the washing hanging out. I have lived in Italy so many years that I have gotten used to it. I would hang my underwear at the back behind all the rest. Now I am older, I don't care who sees my knickers!

  7. Glad your husband can get his vaccine. I get my second today, and I am reminded how not everyone is getting them that fast. It really does depend on where you are, isn't it? Your food looks yummy. I haven't had Chinese food for quite awhile. Maybe I should suggest the hubby get some soon. I'm waiting to be totally vaccinated before I eat out but take out always works. And thanks for letting me know about St. George's day. I don't know that one (not talked about here in the US). I always count on late May for my first swim. Good luck-I hope since you say you won't make on St. George's day it is not so long afterwards Jan. Have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

  9. I miss the Chinese buffet, and I'm sad that may never come back. I'm not sure I've ever ordered from the menu there, and I imagine I'll have trouble deciding lol Happy T Tuesday!

  10. Glad your husband is getting his vaccine. I go for my 2nd one tomorrow. I haven't had Chinese food for a while. The place we liked to go to went out of business before the pandemic. So sad as the food was really good. I laughed about the laundry being hung outside. My mother had a clothesline when I was a kid. We had to hang the sheets or towels to the street and then unmentionables on the back line so the neighbors wouldn't see! Fun memory. Happy T Day

  11. Nice that your husband is getting his vaccine. So glad you were able to go out. Clothes on the line here would get blown away and full of pollen. LOL Have a nice day.

  12. The last time I had Chinese was in February, 2020. In March, I went into lockdown. I miss Chinese food and yours looks so good. I love spring rolls and I love any and everything Chinese. So glad you shared your wonderful meal with us, as well as your FREE wine and beer for T this Tuesday.

I am delighted your husband will get his shot soon. In the states, if we are over 16, we can get them now. I hope your country can soon get a large supply of the vaccine so we are all safe.

  14. Jan, my sweet friend, loved hearing about all that is going on in your life. It is so pretty where you live and all your food and drink looks fabulous! Glad hubby is getting the vaccine. Mine refuses to take it. I get my second one this Monday. I am dreading it as others I know have said it makes them feel sick - I am hoping I am one that has no effects since I didn't even feel the first one at all. Have great rest of the week! Hugz

  15. I miss chinese food, and Thai... we try at home but it's not as good. (probably no msg!) I'd love to know how your husband's shot went. We had our first and I had a prolonged reaction but he had a sore arm only. (moderna)
    nice to meet you, Jan
