Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came to visit last week, sorry I didn’t get time to visit everyone who posted later, we were so exhausted by the time we arrived home from the vaccine centre all we wanted was a cup of tea and to sit down!
My DH had an appointment for 11.33 but when we arrived half an hour early it was clear that people had just arrived with no appointments and were being seen anyway, the line went around the sports centre, down and up the next road, along the main road and down and up another road, it took two hours of standing and slowly moving until he finally got into the hall, then it was a snaking line.
all organised at the point of injection thankfully, two minutes and he was done, now we know we will ignore any appointment time and get there when they open, the next morning we both had aching back and hips, bearing in mind everyone in the line was aged 70- 79 you’d think they would have kept to appointment times to save older people having to stand for over two hours, I don’t know why we were surprised as here in Spain they have no organisation skills whatsoever.
The good thing was that we got chatting to people we had never met before, as usual the Brits in the line made jokes about it all, I’m now waiting to hear when I will have the pleasure of getting mine! My DIL said her Mum in Poland had the same experience!
One of our walks last week, another cloudy day but we enjoyed it, not many people around either.
This is on the beach side of the Marina, a lovely place to have a drink in the summer. The restaurant used to do a ten course tasting menu, it was really delicious, you didn't get a menu and our friend Mary doesn't like shellfish, we did warn her there would be some, of course about four of the dishes had shellfish so our DH's had to eat them, no complains from either of them.
of course the views are spectacular as the other side is on the edge of the sea.
I took this from the same place looking down the Paseo, I love that we are surrounded by the mountains although they look pretty threatening when it's a cloudy day.
This is my piece of art for our dear friend Nancy's challenge on SCS, to use corrugated cardboard.
It took me two weeks to finish it as I always get stuck at the end, I think I used everything I have in my stash, even used my corrugated paper maker, you know the little gadget that I just had to have and haven't used for about ten years.
Overnight on Sunday we had a really awful storm, thunder, lightening and torrential rain, when we woke up yesterday morning our whole garden was covered in red sand, it seems to be happening more often in recent years, it also means a few hours of intense cleaning to get rid of it.
We had to hose down the garden, something we hate to do as it such a waste of water but we know from past experiences if you let it dry it's impossible to sweep up as it dries like clay on the tiles, as for the pool, well that will be more waste water as it will have to go straight to waste water to get rid of the sand otherwise it just gets back into the filters!
My drink related photo this week is a mug that was a gift from a friend to my DH, it’s from Woolwich where my DH did his Military training, it shows the Woolwich Barracks, it never gets used as it’s quite fine China but it was a lovely surprise gift as it reminded my DH of his time there.
Well that's me for this week, more cleaning to do, it's all go being retired LOL
Have a great T Day and keep safe.
Jan x

Oh, don´t you plain hate waiting like that?! With an appointment, too! ("... no organisation skills whatsoever" made melaugh, though, sorry!)
ReplyDeleteLove your bee-like flower-artwork.
Sorry about the sand, but, oh, I love this kind of weather. We near to never get it here.
I´d hope for retirement, I´m looking for a job in lockdown, I have the time on my hands but a bad feeling.
A happy T-day anyways! x
When I got my second shot is was pretty disorganized also. The line was long and they were making us do paperwork we had already done online all over again. BUT, even though it took an hour, I got my shot so that was good. Now I am done until they say we need a booster. Hopefully I can get that at a doctors office instead. OK, enough babble from me. I enjoy seeing your beach photos. It looks warm and sunny. It's nice you can go out and enjoy them. Hope all is well, and you get your shot soon. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteFabulous that you've had your vaccinations despite the wait, everything was really organised here (in UK). Your corrugated art is gorgeous, I love the grungy look with the beautiful stenciling and flowers 😁. Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteWhat a long time to wait in line but that is great that you made the most of it and found others to chat with.
ReplyDeleteLoved your piece of art. The colors are my favorite and the touch of corrugation adds great texture.
Beautiful beach photo. I am longing to go to the beach but I have to wait a few months.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Congratulations on getting the vaccine, and I'm glad it worked ok despite the appointment times being meaningless. That's the perfect spot for patio dining! What a view! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to wait so long. I had my first vaccination last week and it was very well organised. I was through in 40 minutes including the rest time afterwards. Your art is wonderful, and I love that mug! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThat really is a long wait for anyone with some mobility and/ or age related issues. glad it's done for now . beautiful seaside scenery. I cannot wait to get to the beach again!
ReplyDeleteAnd oh my, your corrugated card is gorgeous!! Nice remembrance cup.
Happy T day!
The line was long when I went for my vaccine, too. I had a 9:30 a.m. appointment and as I was talking to others in line, that was their time, too. I was surprised my line was attended to so quickly, though. Some were there for the Modera and some for the J & J that I got. They split us off and the lines for one vaccine went one way and another for the other. I was actually impressed with how quickly and efficiently it all went. I would have been in pain had it been two hours. I feel for you.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your cardboard scrap card. I bought one of those corrugated making tools and it is still in its original packaging. I've never used it and it's been at least 10 years since I got it. Amazing what we think we need, but don't. Sure love that you used yours. It's a gorgeous card with the tiny flowers and lovely stenciling.
What a beautiful mug your husband got. I can see why you don't use it. Thanks for sharing your beach walk, your trip to get your husband's vaccine, the lovely card you made, and your husband's beautiful mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jan.
Jan, I am sorry for the long wait you had for your husband's vaccine. Ours was so well organized! It all went pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is fabulous! The paper crimper is what you are referring to? I think I must have gotten rid of it; or if I still have it, I have no idea where it is. LOL I sure wish we had the views you have! Happy T Day!
So sorry the appointment time was’t honored and you had to wait so long in line. The tasting menu sounds fabulous. I love shell fish. Well, most shellfish. Ok, some shellfish. The storm sounded scary and what a pain with all the cleanup. Hope the cleanup and your vaccine appointment go smoothly. Take care. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Jan and good to finally see photos of where you live and of your villa. I so wish I had a blog on our travels and life here. I definitely take lots of food and drinkies photos LOL. How do I get to follow you permanently? Happy day and chat later jx
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had to wait so long in line for your vaccin. Organization is not Spain's strong point. My husband would say: 'They can't organize a p.ss-up in a brewery'!
ReplyDeleteI suppose we were lucky that we had ours in the car and when I went, at my appointed time of 8:05 pm, they were winding down. There was hardly anyone there.
Lovely views of the beach and the area where you live.
Happy T-Day (belated),
Hugs,
Lisca
We waited a long time too, here in my town in the US. Love the photos of your area. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteThis is my second visit - I did actually visit on T-Day but had to run get some work done, yesterday I had to do a training at 4:00AM for some of our team in a different time zone and then had to proof one of my daughter's final papers at night - uck! So here I am again and I re-read your post (which I love by the way). I have told several people your shot story - it is so interesting how different things are where we all live. I went right into Walmart, filled out a 1 page paper, went straight over to the pharmacist's station, got my shot (my second) and then went grocery shopping. Now the line to check out after grocery shopping was 20 minutes long and I got worried about my frozens!
ReplyDeleteLove the mug and your pretty pictures, but hate you had to do all the cleanup.
How totally fun to see that you have a picture of your creation for my MMJ challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com. I am going to go over there and comment on it, but I love it! I love that you used a tool you haven't used in 10 years too! LOL!
Hugz to you and your sweet hubby!
