T is for More Tin painting

Hello ladies of the T gang, another week has past, a little more interesting now we are walking although we only go around the block so not too exciting but this morning was Steve's Blood appointment to check his levels, we walked over to the doctors, I had to wait outside, they took his temperature, good, his levels were perfect and he managed to get the doctor to sign my e prescription so I can get some as it ran out while we were in the UK, we would usually stop to have breakfast at a restaurant across the road from our house, it was open but it's far too early to risk it for us I'm afraid much as I would love a Cafe con leche (similar to a latte)
We will do the same at 1pm to collect his new schedule for the blood thinners, made a change from walking around the block but tomorrow is our first outing off our urbanizacion. I have a list of things we need while we are down in the Port while we are waiting for the car.
Saturday morning Steve spotted this butterfly on a gate as we were walking around, I've never seen on like it as it had four wings, I thought it was two, mating but no it was just one.
I also spent most of Saturday painting the other two tins, I really enjoyed myself, I was covered in stains and ink by the end but it was fun. The first one I had already painted the top but I finished the sides. On all the sides I used the left over parts from the TH die cut, I glued them all around the edges, painted them and then used a spray before wiping over with treasure silver wax.
This one has Christmas paper on it, not thrilling but I thought I would use it rather than something I would use later, I also glued the red and white paper around the edge but then decided to use the zigzag ribbon, I've had it for years but the gold isn't a good colour so I thought that could be used too. More stash used!
The last one I glued die cuts on the top, TH Scrollwork, I used the pieces from the centres to stick around the sides again, painted it all white and then dropped some brushos on to the wet paint, moved it around with a paint brush and then dropped some beads and micra flakes for texture the rubbed it all over with distress silver paint and then silver wax.
We also had Fresh Mackerel for dinner with Salad, delicious, Steve does make a great salad with avocado, I had to google the spelling as I think of it as aquacate, the Spanish spelling. The funny shaped piece near my potatoes is the Roe from the fish, Steve gave me that bit to try, not a bad taste but I don't like the texture of it.
These earthenware bottles have Snaps in them, we met a German lady when we were living in our caravan twenty years ago, her husband bought them over and gave them to Steve, they've been in cupboard all those years! I always forget when the boys come over to get them out for them to try. Steve used to love a glass of snaps with a beer when we lived in Germany but he doesn't drink alcohol any more due to all the meds he takes. So does anyone know if it goes off, I wouldn't like to poison our sons, they have never been opened!
Well see you all next week, hopefully, we are off to back to the Salud, take care ladies and Happy T Day
Jan x

  1. Hi Jan, glad you are able to get out a bit now. Cafes and restaurants are open here, too, but I'm not going in them yet. I prefer to be careful! Glad all went well at the doctor's. I don't think Schnapps goes bad, but you could always use it as hand sanitizer! Your fresh mackerel is making me drool! Love how your tins turned out, well done! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  2. Yes, annoying we go to places together and one has to wait outside. In our case I had to stand reading, as there was space, but no benches.

Please be careful with blood thinners, please!
Hubby took Marcumar and nearly died.
His Brother is a doctor and said, take aspirin, and ever since he´s OK - please check this info with another doctor maybe?

Cute works but, weee, mackarel. Hubby once caught one, it was awful! ;-)
I really did try to be proud of him, but... ewww.... I ate it but ewww...

Korn and Kümmel, huhhh.... Reckon that hard stuff you can drink in 200 years still, but I´m not an expert!

    A happy, sober T-day to you ;-) Iris x

    1. Hi Iris, sorry to hear your hubby had problems, Steve has heart problems and it is the Cardiologist who gives him Sintrom to stop further problems, he has been taking it for almost nine years with no problems and has blood check every five to six weeks so we are very happy with the care he receives.

  4. Its good that you are able to get out a bit more, our new rules are coming in this week and so far it seems to making us all a bit uneasy about what we can and cannot do. maybe the next few days will make it a bit clearer.
    Happy T day wishes.

  5. No alcohol won't go bad-how cool that they are in pottery-a keeper for sure.
Sounds like things are close by that's nice for these times especially. I would love a plate of fresh fish-looks delicious.
Loved seeing your craft projects too.

  8. I'm glad you have been out and about. I hope you will be able to walk to the port while waiting for your car.
I assume your husband takes Sintrom. That is the sort of blood thinner that needs periodical checks. Are they still that fiddly? I was a nurse and always complained about older people being sent home with one quarter of a tablet to take. Some with arthritic fingers would never get that accurate. I am healthy and just take Aspirin 75 mg as a precaution. (not prescribed, I just take it)
Your dinner looks lovely. I like mackerel. But hubby doesn't eat fish so we don't have it often. And even then it has to be salmon or fish fingers.(!)
Your craft projects are lovely. I love the idea of altering boxes. Really nice.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

    1. Lisca, yes steve takes sintrom, he was taking prodaxa, that required no tests but was too expensive so he was put on to sintrom, he goes every five weeks but recently he has had six weeks but his levels have been stable for quite a few years. He takes half per day now, Steve chops them up!
I agree he used to take half one day and three quarters another day so fiddley chopping quarters, lol

  11. I'm glad your husband is well, and it's true that here in Spain, the controls for taking sintrom are meticulous. My father also took it, they had it well watched.
That butterfly is very beautiful. But your boxes are spectacular Jan, I really like all three. You will be able to treasure beautiful things.
Happy T-day! That meal has to be very delicious, we really like fish too. Curious little bottles.
Have a very nice Wednesday, stay safe and big hugs

  13. I hope you had a fabulous T day Jan. It must be exciting to not only get out but to be able to walk again. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get out and walk, but I suppose we all adjust as we have to. We all seem to adjusting to so many things lately. And your tins look fantastic, as does your mackerel. I love mackerel and hope we'll be able to go out fishing for it this summer. Hugs-Erika

  14. That butterfly looks more like a scrapbook embellishment than an actual butterfly, Jan. Very pretty and unusual.

Your painted tins are terrific, especially the two that you finished off with texturing and gilding.

    Happy T-Day! Eileen xx

  15. Restrictions are being lifted here but not for over 70's yet! I am about to cover a note holder- your tins look great! What a beautiful butterfly - it looks as though the markings are drawn on! We both love mackerel, both fresh and smoked! Have a good week , belated Happy T Day! Chrisx

  16. Oh Jan, I am SO sorry I'm late visiting. I got really sick and just couldn't continue on Tuesday. I'm sorry for not being a very good host.

Those tins turned out great. I really liked all of them and you did a great job covering them, too.

Good news about your husband. I bet you are relieved, too.

What a unique butterfly. So glad you can get out and walk and see these beauties up close and personal.

I've never heard of Snaps, but I like that the drink is in beautiful jars of pottery. Thanks for sharing them and your week with us for T this week. Again, my apologies for not being a good host.

  17. Your tins look wonderful Jan! We have a lot of unopened spirits, bought on different holidays, I don't think they go off, but I'm not much of a drinker these days apart from the occasional beer.
    Happy T Day!
