T is for Time to Play
T day again already, I'm surprised how fast the days are passing but we are trying to do some small jobs around the villa, Steve found some white paint so Saturday morning found us painting the wall along the drive, the rain had made the sand run down, it looked a mess so now it's very clean, fingers crossed we don't get any more rain.
The stairway goes up to my craft room, our roof is flat so we had a room built up there for my craft room but when it's raining heavily I can't get up there as those marble steps are lethal!
Friday I picked some Pink grapefruits to make Marmalade, Pink Grapefruit and Orange, it's so delicious on toast or on yoghurt shame I have run out of empty jars, our neighbour around the corner brings me jars and I supply them with Marmalade but obviously in Lockdown it's a no go!
Sunday with only one large Kilner jar left I picked the last of the Kumquats, there wasn't many left so I cut up one orange and made one jar!
It really is very tasty, Steve uses it when baking hams instead of honey, our son tried the recipe with the remaining jar from the batch I had taken across to his house and we had thumbs up from them, including our 3 year old Grandson, mind you that boy eats anything, we take him gherkins from Spain as a treat and he absolutely loves Chorizo, he sits at the side when his Mum is using it for cooking and it's a case of one for the pot one for JJ.
My link to the T party today is my page of Art Journal, I made the BG with my Paperartsy chalk paints, Sage and Vanilla, I've had these vintage maps for ages, I bought them online for my travel journal but besides being only a few different ones I think the country names are in Dutch, maybe Lisca came enlighten me! One says Wereldkaart
Well an idea came to me to use them to show how we all meet for our weekly " T" party from all parts of the world, I'm sorry if any of you can't see your country but they were the only ones in the pack! I also had a some DP with Teacups, I fussy cut them, I love that expression and had never heard it until I started to scrap!
A bit of gold stenciling, glass beads, it doesn't show up much as I left it white, a few accessories and I had a piece I can also use for the Art Journal challenge to use Geometric shapes.
A couple of ladies asked me to show the mosaic without rain, now we actually have the sun, here it is. The pool is clean too, the sand was so fine as Steve was trying to suck it up it was floating up again, just need to sun the warm it up, only 20c at the moment, too cold for me to put my body in yet but it will be good to get some exercise when we can. I took the photo from the roof so I could get the whole mosaic in the photo.
I saw a small flower mosaic on Ground Force with Alan Titchmarsh years ago, I'm sure many will remember the programme. I thought it was a good idea, when I saw that huge blank wall and told Steve that what I was thinking he thought I was crazy but he did help by mixing cement and laying out the hundreds of pieces, smashing tiles etc, it goes further to the left, we actually made a plaque from a tile and I painted on the dates.
I hope you are all well and keeping safe, I had a shopping trip yesterday, we had to wear plastic bags on our hands as they have run out of gloves, next time I'm taking my marigolds! The weigh station stickers kept sticking to them and I couldn't open the bags to put fruit and veg in so I put the label on and passed the veg separately, the girl on the check out laughed and then one of the stickers was stuck to her glove, she was holding it up to show me, laughing her head off; They have been amazing but everyone is in line and being careful.
We also have the news that the death toll has reduced for I think three days over here which is good and they set up road blocks to stop holidaymakers coming to the coast, apparently all stopped were from this town but some were fined for going where they shouldn't and having two in the car!, the first fine is I think 130 Euros and the second goes up to about 600, must be some rich people out there!
Until next time, keep safe!

ReplyDeleteSounds yummy and yay for laughing, right!!!
ReplyDeleteA happy T-day to you. And to a normal life soon.
Its a wonderful art page with the old maps, a super post and photos.
ReplyDeleteThe jam looks and sounds delicious and a super idea to use your own produce to glaze the meat.
Happy T day wishes..
Stay safe and well.
Yvonne xx
Love your page with the maps and teacups, and oh wow that gorgeous pool looks so inviting! Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteYour page with map and tea cups is very special-so sweet of you to make this for the T party.
ReplyDeleteYour marmalades always look so good-I used to lots and lots of canning from the garden so I have loads of all sizes of jars-if we lived close I will share some.
Wow I love the mosaic for your pool-stunning!!
Happy T hugs Kathy
What a week you've had. You know how to spend your time in lock down. I can certainly understand how those marble stairs could be lethal in wet weather.
ReplyDeleteIn a comment earlier you said you missed me for Friday Smiles. I've put it on hiatus until the 24th due to showing a recycled project every day from the first thru the 22nd.
I absolutely LOVE your map and tea cups from around the world. What a wonderful tribute to sharing these weekly meet ups, even if they are virtual. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible scrapbook page as tribute to all the players at T each Tuesday. I PERSONALLY feel honored.
Wow ~ great journal page and I love your mural! That was quite the undertaking but the result is stunning! Thank you for sharing about the rules, I find it so interesting. I wish we would be stricter here before it's too late. ~ I'm so glad your on the other side of the curve. In VA we are still more then a week away from what they think is the peak. ~ sigh ~ enough of that...off to craft some more and keep my mind occupied. ~ Blessings
ReplyDeleteThose jars are filled with delight, I can see. I enjoy marmalade but have only had orange. I love the T party map, so sweet, and the mural is beautiful. I know the pool is calling your name. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fabulous week! I'm loving your page and wow, that mosaic is amazing 😁. It must have been fun to create and taken you ages to complete it! Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Stay safe and well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYour orange kumquat marmalade looks and sounds delicious, Jan. Have you thought of putting white tread strips on the tile stairs? I mean the kind that feel rough like sandpaper.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your beautiful mosaic wall again.
Wishing you a healthy and happy T-Day! Eileen xx
Kumquat and orange jam (or is it sauce?) that sound yummy. A shame you didn't have any more jars.
ReplyDeleteYes, your mosaic is beautiful. A real work of art. Thank you for showing it again for those who missed it. It must have been an enormous job.
Thank you for dedicating the map page to us. Unfortunately the photo is out of focus and I can't distinguish any words/names. Wereldkaart simply means 'world map'.
Happy T-Day and
Take care,
Hugs,
Lisca
Your post was so interesting and made me wish I lived closer to be the quality control taste tester of your marmalade I've only had it with orange not with the grape fruits. Your art journal page is awesome and the mosaic is amazing. What a lovely oasis you'll have when the pool is a little warmer. Take care and Happy T Day.
ReplyDeleteOH that must be tough not to be able to go to your craft room on rainy days, which are always good days to craft. But how nice to have your own room! And your preserves looks so delicious. I enjoy making jams and jellies. And good for you to get some painting done. I like the mosaic in the sun. Hope it was a great T day (good news the numbers have been lower for 3 days) as I am just getting around to commenting. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe white wall does look very clean. This is a great time to get projects completed.
ReplyDeleteThat marmalade sounds yummy on ham. I have never thought about putting that on a ham but it sounds like I may be trying that for our Easter ham.
Happy Belated Tea Day,
Kate
How lovely to have a room on the roof for crafting, although not so good on rainy days! Marmalade on ham sounds yummy! I love your journal page - great idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to catch up those jobs too - we will have so much more time once they are all done and this is all over! I think those rich folks deserve to get poor paying fines if they continue to break rules! Belated Happy T Day Chrisx
wowww this jam may be so so delicious Jan !! Sure you spent a very nice T-day. Here it´s raining today, no sun, but we are well, and I hope you are well too.
ReplyDeleteI love your Art journal page with this so beautiful map, Great Art !
Hope you could create at your craft room soon.
I wish you a very nice afternoon, stay safe dear friend,
Big hugs, Caty
