T is for Tins, Tins and more Tins
Hello ladies, Ive made it back , last Tuesday I went shopping and it was lunchtime before we had breakfast, I felt out of sorts all day for some reason so I just decided to chill out, I didn’t even feel like crafting either, I was fine the next day, I think it makes me stressed, crazy I know!
With all the rain we’ve had in Spain we had a small leak in the conservatory, where they screwed the polycarbonate roof in place, they seal it with a small circle of rubber, one of them has perished in the sun, and then the gas boiler wouldn’t fire up, it’s only a few months old and Steve thought it was the gas regulator, we only have bottled gas in Spain, we can’t go out to get one so he asked our friend and also our odd job man who lives around the corner if he had one, luckily he had a brand new one so he pushed the box under the gate and also a tube of silicone sealer, Steve managed to fix both the leak and get the boiler working. Hopefully now the weather has cleared we can go back to solar heating for the water
We did have some excitement, Steve saw that the local Feretteria, (hardware shop) was making home deliveries so he rang and they delivered that evening, a massive tub of white paint. We have painted the back wall on the outside of the villa, it's quite high in parts but Steve has an extending pole that the roller fits onto, some parts he could stand on his raised veg plot to get a bit of height too, who knew we could get so excited about painting.
I've been keeping busy crafting, as I think we all have, inspired by Elizabeth's recyling and Erika's beautiful tins that she covered I also started on mine.
This was a small Chocolate box, my first effort. I covered it with decoupage paper, I bought it years ago and it's been sitting in the drawer, waiting!
A shortbread biscuit tin, I got quite carried away with the lid, it started off with gold but I didn't like it so I carried on with other colours, it went on for two days, i still have to finish the sides!
This is the ribbon holder I made a few weeks ago, I still would like some silver rings to put around the holes where the ribbon comes through but unfortunately Steve didn't have any in his tool box so that's another job for "after Lockdown" seems we are saying that quite a lot!
This was our evening meal last week, Roast Belly Pork, Mashed potatoes with Swede, Rutabaga in Spanish and I know they call it that in the USA, cabbage and cauliflower, we usually have more variety of vegetables than that but we were using those up. Steve also made roasted onions with garlic gravy, it's a good job we couldn't go out after eating, the smell of garlic would have knocked everyone out, LOL Also home made apple sauce and the crackling, teeth braking but we love it!!
My drink related photo is a coffee jug I bought years ago when we were touring France, I’ve never used it but I think it’s quite nice.
The back and the front
Hope you all staying safe, it's rumored that on Saturday they may let us out for a walk here in Spain, oh the excitement, watch this space!

Yes, it's not easy being home so much, is it. I miss having someone to talk to, I have a lot of conversations with myself, though. Have fun painting. Glad you got the heating repaired, too. Your tins are looking lovely, great idea. And as for that food, oh my, I wish I could have been there to 'help' you! Stay well, happy T day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYour pork and crackling sounds and looks delicious. I think we are all missing folk to talk to and conversations that spark the interest and take a direction of their own.
ReplyDeleteYour altered tins are looking fantastic.
Its a lovely coffee jug , for sure one to have on display and not used very often.
Stay safe.
Yvonne xx
Great works, I love especially the box.
ReplyDeleteUhhh, garlic. We have neighbours here who seem to live on that, sometimes I even have to leave the balcony, the smell is that bad!
But, hmmm cauliflower I do like!
Happy T-day and yay for some freedom in your place soon, Iris x
Wow, you have been busy! I love the ribbon dispenser and the tin looks amazing 😁. Your roast pork dinner looks so yummy, and your side plate of crackling calls to me but maybe not to my teeth ...lol 😉. I'm loving your coffee pot, so unusual and a wonderful memento of France! Happy T Day wishes and keep well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI quite understand about shopping stressing you out. I feel the same way, now more than ever.
ReplyDeleteYour altered tin is wonderful. I love the grungy appearance and colors. And your ribbon organizer is very clever. I would love one of those but it does take up a lot of room.
It sounds like you and hubby are getting a lot done. I always wish I could accomplish more but some seasons in life are less productive than others.
Your roast pork looks yummy!!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Creativity abounds at your place- love that tin with so much richness and dimension. Your ribbon organizer looks super. Mine are all in a drawer- and not very organized-lol. Your veggies sound especially good to me. And such a fun and unique coffee jug! Keep crafting, and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI love tins. I like the decoupage make overs you've given yours. I can't wait to see the finished sides of the biscuit tin. I'm glad you were able to fix your leak and boiler without needing anyone to come in. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing that y'all are so handy and have such helpful neighbors :) That coffee pot would be fun to use.
ReplyDeleteWe're not locked down like you are there and can still get out for walks and grocery trips. It's interesting to hear what this is like in other places. Happy T Tuesday!
I'm so glad that Erika's recycling project inspired you to cover those tins. That one that is finished is beautiful. And the ribbon holder is definitely functional and beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteYou have helpful neighbors. I'm glad he was able to get you the supplies you needed for the boiler.
Although I'm a vegetarian, your meal looks tasty. I can only imagine the smell left from the cooked garlic.
The idea of using what we have is my concern, too. I hope to use up what I have, then I can start over again after I feel safe to leave my home. I won't be going out, unlike others, to shop. I'm afraid of the asymptomatic people who don't even know they have the virus, but could give it to me. It's nice to hear you may be able to go for a walk soon.
I adore that mug. It's quite the conversation starter. And it's beautiful, too. BTW, I love the look of your sleek kitchen. That wall of cabinets are to die for.
Thanks for sharing your recycled tins, your meal, and your beautiful conversation mug with us for T this Tuesday.
OOhh your tins are wonderful Jan !! This paper is awesome. Look forward to see your biscuit tin finished, because these colours are very beautiful. I love your lace dispenser, I need one too :) Your meal looks delicious, and I love your coffee jug. Happy T-day !
ReplyDeleteI thing we can go out for a walk very soon, let´s see. I wish you a very nice evening, stay safe and healthy, and biig hugs,
Caty
You did a beautiful job covering your tins. The chocolate tin is so pretty. So nice that your neighbors were able to help you with repairs. Your meal looks delicious and you made me laugh about the garlic. Now that's a good way to social distance 😺 Does the coffee jug have a cranky face or is that just my imagination? Take care and Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job covering the tins. Especially the shortbread tin. The colours are beautiful and I like the texture.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you had a helpful neighbour and that the water heater is now fixed. It is not yet sunny enough to heat the water. Our solar panel is very efficient and after two hours of sun I can do the washing up. But it hasn't been warm enough for a shower so we still use the boiler for our shower. I'm longing for better weather. I'm so fed up with the rain!
Great that you have been able to get paint and have painted the wall. We have a wall like that as well and hubby does the same as your hubby. A pole with an extension, and if necessary he stands on scaffolding.
Your pork dinner looks so scrummy! I'd come round if you lived any nearer!
The coffee jug is fun. I can imagine you could not resist that one.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I guess we're all having our ups and down these days, Jan. And then we get excited about simple things like painting a wall. I cleaned our ceiling fans yesterday. It felt really good.
ReplyDeleteI love your deocorated tins and the ribbon box. I made one years ago, but I like your design better.
We're cooking pretty simply. You made quite a gourmet meal!
Belated Happy T-Day! Eileen xx
Love the ribbon dispenser project and the tins ~ great project ideas! Blessings to you ~
ReplyDeleteYour tins came out amazing. I hope you show us the sides when you finish it. In my house we have lots of after the lockdown projects too. That is the worst thing about being home as I look around and just see projects. And that is the funniest coffee jog. I like it. Hope it was the fantastic T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better and that your home problems were fixed....and you got some painting done!! Some days I just don't go in my craft room, yet before lockdown we were going out a lot and I still wanted to get in there if only for a short while! Your box and tin look really great - might give that a go myself! I love the ribbon dispenser - we have some things that won't get finished until we can get the right supplies! I must say your pork dinner does look delicious - mmmm, Crackling!!!! That mug really did make me smile - what a find! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx
