T is for tired of the never ending rain

Hello ladies of the T gang, hope you are all keeping safe and well as we are here. I hope all you all managed to have a good Mother’s Day in the UK, I had a lovely email from my DIL in SF, she calls me her second MUM, she is a lovely kind and thoughtful young woman, we bless the day she joined our family!
our GSs had written Happy Mother’s Day in the sand for me! Both sons rang too so I got to see all the family even though we are all in different countries.
We are now on an extended lockdown here in Spain, it’s been extended until April 12th, we were due to go back to the UK to look after our GS again on the 14th but obviously we have cancelled our trip and as our son is working from home they don't need us anyway! There has been a message to say that although our small local medical centre has closed for general appointments, anyone who has to have regular blood tests will still be able to go there, that’s good news as Steve has to go next week for his five week test, they are also still seeing cancer patients which is good news!
I must say Brittany Ferries have been very helpful and have let me transfer our sailings free of charge to a later date. All hotels are being forced to close today but unfortunately the Spanish hotel in Santander have said they will not give us a refund, I asked if we could transfer to a later date they said yes, but want another €88! we’ve already paid €74 for one night. I not only told the manager no thank you but also that we will not ever use the hotel again, we have been staying there for about five years and sometimes three times every year. I just hope that if everyone else had the same response that they will lose business when they are allowed to reopen.
We are having awful weather here, rain started on Saturday and it’s still going off and on, it’s been raining all night and our garden is flooded, so the song about the rain in Spain stays mainly on the plane certainly isn’t true???
I’ve also been crafting, making a page for my journal and some cards for my stash. The BG is coordinations paper, sanded down after I had embossed it,
All our fruit trees on the front garden have new buds, well they did before all this torrential rain! and we still have loads of grapefruit, kumquats and lemons on the trees, I make marmalade but I didn’t want to buy sugar while there may be shortages, we still have plenty of food in The supermarket. While I was looking through the food cupboards I came across this packet of Pumpkin Bread mix, we love it and I always buy a few packets from Trader Joes to bring home.
You wouldn’t believe how excited we were to find it, luckily I had some eggs, smells glorious, we made it last and savoured every slice!
Seeing as we can’t go out I found this photo from my birthday meal last year, this was my starter, Oysters Rockafella, is that how you spell it?? Anyway they were delicious and the first time I’d tried them, persuaded by our DIL, her favourite. It’s also my ticket to join the T party, the glass of iced water, I also had a glass of wine to celebrate!!
I hope this makes you all smile, steve spotted it online, gave us a giggle.
To be honest I don’t find it boring to stay at home all day.....but I don’t understand why in one box of Rice Krispies there are 22,456 and in another there are 22,466, (and before anyone asks I have triple checked my figures).
Stay Safe Friends Jan x

  1. Glad you are all keeping safe, in spite of all the rain in Spain on the plains - I'll be singing that song all day now! How unfriendly that the hotel was so mean. That's not a good way to do business! That pumpkin bread makes my mouth water. You made some great art, too, have fun. Stay safe, hugs, Valerie

  2. What lovely Mother's Day wishes! Here in the UK, we have now been told to stay at home too with only essential services and shops open. Me and hubby are ok with that and are keeping busy 😀. I love all things pumpkin so the pumpkin bread would be perfect, so yummy! Such a beautiful card too! Take care and sending Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  3. Your making me laugh with the Rice Krispies haha I don't mind staying home either-we are retired and I always loved being home. I always have lots of crafts and projects I can choose from.

  4. So funny...those rice krispies. I love staying home all day as well but that is what I do anyway so going out isn't that appealing to me.
Sad that your garden is flooded, although I do love that song. I am glad that you were able to find something at home in your pantry to bake. I am hoping it doesn't come to that for us. Raiding our pantry for food will give us some very interesting and random combinations.
I love the colors and embossing on your card.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  5. glad you are doing well despite the lockdown and that you're able to get what you need at the grocery store.I enjoy being home and have not worked in some years now so there isn't much different for me as I don't go out bumming around or shopping anyway. Except for the weekly grocery run.) And I certainly have enough art supplies to keep me going for a very long time:):) Happy T day!

  6. "Never ending rain"! Ain't it the truth. At least it makes venturing out less tempting, but I'm ready for sunshine!

That hotel management sounds not just a bit short-sighted. Wow!

I'll hafta count my cereals to see what's going on there! A project perfectly suited for these days ;) I got such a kick out of that lol

I hope you and yours stay safe and well. We get some foreign news here, and we've seen some about Spain. Happy T Tuesday :)

  7. I'm glad to read you are not bothered by the lock down. I've become lethargic and don't want to make art. I hope I can get back into it before the end of the month. I love your card. It's a beauty.

The joke Steve found on the internet about the Rice Krispies had me laughing. I have some Cheerieos I might have to count if things get too boring here.

I had Oysters Rockefeller once. I loved the butter, the bread crumbs, and the herbs, but I'm not fond of oysters, which I found out when I ate them. Glad you enjoyed them.

Thanks for sharing your card and your Oysters Rockefeller and water with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jan.

  8. Laughed about the Rice Krispies. Can't remember the last time I ate any but I sure hope the box I had wasn't short. I'm in CA and we've been on "house arrest" for a couple of weeks. Not much reason to go to the store, the shelves are nearly empty. I knew there would be no paper goods. but no eggs, no sugar, no dish soap and.... no potatoes. Potatoes? That one surprised me.

  9. I saw Spain on the news and how bad it is. Stay safe Jan. It is a scary disease. I can't believe that hotel wouldn't give you back your money. It's not like you are actually allowed to travel there. I don't think I would go there anymore. But I love trader joe's pumpkin bread. Good choice. And hope it was a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  10. Thank you for some words that made me smile today, Jan. The message in the sand, the pumpkin bread mix and the Oysters Rockafella for your birthday brightened my day.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  11. I had to laugh...my kids both wished me a happy mothers day on Sunday. Separately, as they got up hours part. They were very confused why I wasn't excited about it. Finally we figured out that they saw it on twitter from some UK feeds. LOL they said that now I got 2 mother's days.
I love raw oysters...not sure if that is the same thing.
    Happy T day!

  12. That was a nice message written in the sand for you. I'm sorry to hear the rain in Spain is not mainly in the plains. :-) That made me chuckle. That hotel was awful to do that, and I hope they go out of business for it. Your artwork looks lovely. Trader Joes has good stuff, so I'm glad to see you brought stuff back home with you, to be able to make that bread. And your funny at the end gave me a good laugh. I'm finding humor helpful during this stressful time.

  13. How unfriendly of that hotel. We had a call from the hotel we had booked for my birthday (this week) and that was also non-refundable. But they said we could change the date and didn't mention any surcharge. We shall see. I hope we will be able to go at a later date. It was to walk the Caminito Del Rey. Obviously when we go their much later in the season, it will be very busy. We'll see. I'm not going to worry about it.
I loved that message in the sand. In times like this I feel so blessed with all this technology. Spare a thought for people that had to hide during the war (think Anna Frank) with no internet!
I too get two Mother's Days. My kids in the UK have sent me messages this past Sunday, and my son in Italy will celebrate it in May.
    Stay safe dear friend,
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  14. What a great way to say Happy Mothers day! We have to get on and cancel our rail trips and the hotel - todays job - hope we don't have your experience! Love the card you made - a lovely texture!
    Pumpkin bread sounds good!
We haven't started to count rice krispies yet - still have lots we WANT to do!
Take care. Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
