T is for trapped in the rain

Hello ladies, hope you are all keeping safe and well as we are here. Many thanks once again for your cheery comments last week, it’s good to have friends out there and hear how everyone is coping.
This is our weather, it was forecast rain but not torrential, just when things are finally drying out it starts again! The wall on the other side of the pool is my mosaic, I think a few of you may have already seen it, the wall is 2 metres by 12 metres and it took 10 months to complete doing two hours per day! Usually cheers me up when I see it but today it reminded me that even the loveliest place can look miserable in the rain.
steve had to go out for his five weekly blood check, the medical centre is only open for blood tests and cancer patients, otherwise I think you have to go into the town, well good news is that his levels are very good and when he walked in the door Anna the receptionist ran out to take his temperature, all normal! great news!
After reading the local news that said the next two weeks in Spain would see a spike in cases of the virus I decided to go to the supermarket so I wouldn’t have to go out again, firstly the line was quite long, although it looks worse because of all the space between everyone, I arrived home and then took an hour to put the shopping away, not that I had so much but after seeing the video about germs on shopping I wiped every plastic wrapper before opening and dropping into clean bags, then all plastic was put into a bin bag, cardboard cartons were opened and the inside package was put on the disinfected worktop, then all cardboard and paper went straight into the log burner! I had to wipe all my bags and then clean all the worktops again before cleaning the kitchen floor where the bags had been! Then I got paranoid and put all my clean clothes in the washing machine, It’s enough to put anyone off shopping for life, LOL
I have been have a tidy up in my craft room so when I’ve finished I will show you what I’ve been up to, actually it’s made time fly the last couple of days, I’ve really enjoyed getting stuck in, so much so that I lost track of time!
My link to the tea party this week is my kettle, our son and DIL lived in Boston when they first left the Uk, on our first visit to see them, which was very scary as it was during 9/11, they bought me this lovely kettle, I really love the cow prints, I haven’t ever used it as we have an electric kettle but I have it on the top of the kitchen cupboards, it always makes me smile.
I hope you are all finding ways to pass the time and none of you getting to the point of counting cereals, yet. Stay safe Jan x

  1. Oh, such a cute kettle.
Yes. 9/11. I still remember where I was and what everybody did. And here we are. Even much, much worse.

  2. Your weather is like MY weather. I still believe that's why I get kicked off the internet is only when it rains. Sorry your weather is so bad, but at least you don't have to go out in it.

I don't bring anything into my house until it is sanitized. I wear gloves when I go outside and I sanitize even my mail and my mailbox. I don't buy take out, so that was useful. When I went to the store, I left my bags at home and got a box from the store to place my groceries in. I sanitized even the box before I brought it inside. NO ONE is allowed in my home until this is over. I don't mind going into the yard, as long as there is no one around. I don't take walks, I won't go to the store again until the last person in the U.S. has been cleared of this virus. It scares me to death. Some of my friends call me paranoid, but after Jeanie showed that film the other day, I know I'm not the only one who is careful in these times of the corona virus. It is my new normal.

I absolutely LOVE the teapot. It put a big smile on my face and I need that right now. Thanks for sharing your pool and mosaic (even in the rain), updates on Steve's condition, your craft room clean up, and your adorable teapot with us for T this Tuesday.

  6. Oh wow, the aftermath of your shopping trip was exhausting to read! I am amazed at the amount of people I see wearing masks and gloves, yet they are touching everything. Your solution is the first I have heard that is actual prevention but SO much work.
Your cow kettle is adorable! I have never seen a kettle in an animal shape. How fun!
    Stay warm and dry.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  8. Hi Jan-I would love to see your mural-when it stops raining, did you do it? sounds awesome.
I know shopping is scary and I didn't think to do anything when I got home to sanatize every thing-but when I take something out of the pantry now I wipe it down well before using and then wash my hands really well-it is a scary situation for all of us-ugh
Playing in the craft room is so calming isn't it? Look forward to see what you were up to in there-hugs Happy T and stay safe

  10. I do remember your wonderful mosaic wall, Jan.

I'm still allowed to go out for essentials and do so about every 8 or 9 days. It feels so strange and everything is so different. I don't tarry to chat with anyone. I get my chores done and head home as soon as possible.

    The cow kettle is delightful.

Stay safe and well. Art and yoga at home are my ways and keeping worry at bay.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  11. How much rain out there Jan !! It's been raining here this morning, too, and most of the night, but the sun came up at noon, so we're fine.
I love your cow teapot, it´s so funny! Happy T-day!
You are right, you have to be extremely careful not to get infected.
I hope you have a good morning, and I send you big hugs,
    Caty

  12. This is a crazy world right now. Maybe the good thing about rain is that it doesn't make you want to go outside. I hope Spain doesn't get that spike. I've heard on the news how bad it is, although it is now worse here in the US. But I do LOVE that teapot. That made me smile and is so cute. Hope it was a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  13. Sorry you're having so much rain. It's kind of dreary where I am in Connecticut, too. The Doctor offices in my area are taking one's temperature, before allowing one to proceed past that first "check point" just like they are doing where you are in Spain. I like your tea pot.

  14. Rain, rain! We have had weeks of it!The only good day was Sunday!
Your mosaic is gorgeous. You showed it the other day and I am so impressed. A masterpiece.
It's good you are having a sort out.
I had to smile at your shopping sanitising. I don't have sanitiser in the house. I don't normally have it, as it is something typically american. But when I wanted to buy some, it was sold out. I do have a bottle of alcohol should I need it.
Oh I love that kettle! I have never seen anything like it.I still use a kettle on the gas stove because electricity is particularly expensive in our village. (It's subcontracted so we pay more) Plus that we often get power outs so it's best not to depend on electricity too much.
    Take care, stay safe,
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  15. Maybe rain is only depressing if you live where it's raining. I thought your rain picture was really cool. The rain drops are so evenly spaced like they are keeping social distancing. The windows of the house on the other side of the wall look like eyes. Like the house is peeking over the wall to see what's going on your side. I've been doing the same kind of sanitizing when bringing anything into the house. I have an enclosed front porch so I sort and wipe down things out there and put in reusable shopping bags which I launder. My doctor told me you can leave non-perishable items outside in a garage, porch, and I'm assuming a car trunk for 72 hours. Maybe you'll inspire me to clean my studio. Your teakettle is adorable. Take care and Happy T Day

  16. I am expecting a food delivery today and hubby and I have made a plan on how to deal with everything but I think your idea of putting things into clean bags is a good tip! Your mosaic does look good in the rain!
We have had a few days of cold and cloud but the temps are about to rise this weekend!
Great news about Steve too. Good luck with craft room sort out - I have to do mine...one day!!!
Your cow kettle has certainly made me smile - what fun!!!
    Belated Happy T Day!Chris
