T is for Total Lockdown
Hello Ladies, it has been quite traumatic for all of us I think since we were all at the T party last week, I hope that you are all free from the virus as we are here.
We are on total lock down here in Spain, we are only allowed out to go shopping, the pharmacy or the hospital, we've just been told that we aren't even allowed to go shopping together! The police are patrolling around and it's a fine if you are caught, we didn't realise this, we went shopping yesterday morning although Steve stayed in the car, I wouldn't risk him mixing with anyone as he has heart problems so better to be safe than sorry. It is was very organised, only 40 at once in the shop, it's a big supermarket so I was never close to anyone, they have plenty of food but spread out on the shelves, I think they are keeping some back to keep filling the shelves to stop people buying everything.
They sprayed our hands with sanitizer and then gave us plastic gloves, they are so big on my hands I could't actually open the plastic bags to put my veg in them so I just stuck the price label on and gave them to the girl separately, she laughed when I told her why!
Luckily we aren't social butterflies so it's not a hardship to be together, that's our lives since we retired doing everything together although we are missing our morning walks along the paseo but it's a small price to pay to be safe.
Seeing as we haven't been eating out since we returned to Spain because of the risks I haven't been able to take any photos so I found a digital image and decided to make a card.
This is for all of you lovely ladies from the T Party, to say thank you for all your visits and kind comments, it's much appreciated.
The last two weeks I’ve been inspired to make a start on my travel journal, I’m making this one from our visit to Disneyland and Universal studios 18 months ago with our DIL and DGSs, our DIL organised it all and she did us proud, we flew to Burbank from SFO where she organised a car to drive us to Anaheim where we stayed for two nights, we had one day in Disneyland so it was a hectic day.
Then she organised a stretch Limousines to take us to the Hilton hotel close to the studios, it was amazing, unfortunately our DIL doesn't like fairground rides and Steve wasn't allowed on most of them, they went on the log flume and the space ride but after that I had to accompany our 11 year old GS on them all.
I must admit it was amazing whizzing around behind Harry Potter and feeling you were going to be crushed by a giant boulder in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark but I was totally freaked out when our GS wanted to go on the Mummy, we had a long wait and when we finally got on the ride we asked if we could go at the back, by the time we got to the end our GS had his head on my knee and I had my eyes closed! We never saw a thing, LOL
I've also been making Birthday cards from the free papers I got with my craft mag, let's face it I think most of us could be on lock down for a year and not run out of stash, By the time we are let out I will most likely have enough cards to last my lifetime, Ha,Ha
I was quite pleased with this one as I also used some twine, I usually struggle to use that and ribbon!
That's all for this week, take care and have a good crafting week!
Jan x

beautiful cards Jan!! Your scrapbook page is so bright and fun. Good we have crafty things to keep us busy in these times. Seems in my area we are heading in the direction your place has taken... happy T day!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it's strange just now. We are still allowed to go out walking, but I got asked by a policeman today if I wouldn't feel better at home. I told him no! But we will have to get through the rules and regulations, they are tightening them day by day. Stay safe and well, and have fun with your travel journal, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteSO true about the craft supplies, I could last for years as well! Wow we are not at that level of precaution in the US but I'm glad they're making good decisions and rationing the food where you are. Stay well and craft on!
ReplyDeleteGreat works, so nice to see something good!
ReplyDeleteAll still well here! Soccer games are cancelled but that´s all.
Here in Massachusetts, we haven't been on an official lock down yet. Though schools, restaurants, theaters are all closed. The governor of our state banned any gatherings over 25 people. The grocery stores are open, but people are panic buying so some items like hand soap and toilet paper are hard to come by. I did my grocery shopping online through the supermarket's online service, my order should arrive on 18. Mar.
ReplyDeleteYour comments about making cards and not running out of supplies made me laugh. Thank you for that. You are so right As artists and craft makers, we would never be bored. 😺It's also good to be able to have virtual visits. Nice to know what is going on in other parts of the world and that we are not alone. Happy T Day and take care.
Glad you got your shopping ok, it all sounds very organised 😀. I'm loving the cards you made, the T Day one made me smile with the little girl and big teapot - perfect! Take care and sending happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see you at T, Jan. What a darling card you made for us. It makes me smile. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. I hope the drastic measures being taken will slow (stop!) the spread of COVID-19. You were lucky to go to visit Disneyland when you did. I love the story about you having to go on all those rides with your GS.
Yes, I'm sure I have enough stash in the house to last a year. lol.
Love the card!
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Hi Jan, sounds like your shopping trip was very organised, its not happened here yet but the shelves have very limited stocks.
ReplyDeleteYour cards and journal look wonderful and I love the cute image with the girl and her large teapot.
Take care and stay safe. Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
It is scary right now, isn't it? I think it is smart how they make you shop alone and only 40 people can enter the store at one time. We are spreading fast here, and both my husband and I are home working now. It is different and I guess I will get used to it. Stay healthy, and hope it was a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI haven't been shopping yet since the start of the curfew. But I will need to get a few things tomorrow, mainly veg and meat.
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful card! Freebies with a magazine? I wish they had craft magazines here. But like you, I have enough stash to last me for a long time!
Your scrapbook page looks very colourful and I love the story that goes with it.Fun memories.
Happy T-Day my friend,
and stay safe,
Hugs,
Lisca
Things have changed dramatically since last week's T-Gathering. Your artwork looks lovely. Nice idea to make a travel journal. Stay healthy and safe.
ReplyDeleteAfter ATT ran a new line and new connectors, I was finally back online late Wednesday. Just when I thought things were stable, I was once again offline for over nine hours. At least this time, I was able to get back on. Sorry I’m such a bad T Tuesday host this week.
ReplyDeleteI love the card you made to honor T Tuesday. It's awesome. I like your out of the box thinking, too.
I'm also not a social butterfly and if I'm locked in as long as some expect, I may actually LEARN how to make cards. Your example at the end is amazing. Thanks for sharing both cards with us for T this past Tuesday.
