T is for Traveling home
Happy T Day! It’s good to be home in the sun, it’s been quite a busy week.
Our journey was good, we were off the boat and on the road by 8:15am even though three drivers didn’t come back to their cars and we had to wait as none of the cars could get past to go down the ramp.
I took a few photos on the way, the first one is Burgos, from a distance but if you look closely you can see the cathedral, we’ve never stopped off for a closer look as we are always eager to get home.
A couple of quick snaps of two lovely old building in Lerma, the town is set on a slight hill, very typically spanish with the houses clinging to the hillside.
Our first stop is just past Lerma, we always have breakfast here and fill up with diesel. I take over the driving from here until Madrid.
Our breakfast, bacon bocadilla with sliced tomatoes grilled, a la plancha, as they say, delicious especially when you are hungry! My drink for this week too, our first Spanish coffee, goes down a treat.
I took this photo of our Sat Nav in the car, at 5.15pm an hour from home and it was reading 26c, not bad for February, I took it to show our sons, I’m sure sometimes they don’t believe how hot it can be in winter.
Steve finally got his new armchair delivered although at the time he was at the dentist, he broke a tooth, would you believe he was only eating Rice Crispies for his breakfast, trying to encourage our GS to have some
We are having two new lights fitted in the bedrooms tomorrow, we are having air con in the spare bedroom on Friday so we can finally get rid of the ceilings fans, they get so dusty and it’s hard to clean them as they are over the beds so they are going at last, the new lights are very glitzy, silver and sparkly, I’m just hoping they don’t look like a disco glitter ball when they are lit, LoL
Well that’s all my news for this week, I hope you are all safe and not flooded or snowed in, we’ve had high winds today, we felt as if we had been sandblasted walking along the Paseo this morning.
Take Care
Jan x

Thanks for sharing the pics of your trip and your very tasty looking breakfast, yummy! Sorry to hear Steve broke a tooth, that's not good. Happ T Day and have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and Spanish coffee sounds yum ~ air conditioning is a beautiful thing! enjoy ~
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos from your trip. Your breakfast looks delicious. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, I enjoyed your trip photos-always so wonderful to get home isn't it. Your meal looks good, and a/c in the bedroom will be wonderful-there are a couple fans here in the lake house-and yes they are not fun to get up on a ladder and clean-which needs doing soon.
ReplyDeletehappy T wishes Kathy
Welcome home, Jan. It's great that you made it.
ReplyDeleteI take it the gas/diesel prices are per liter. I always look for the unique and this photo interested me. Lovely photos of the trip home, too.
Gosh, even though I'm a vegetarian, this breakfast sandwich looks delicious. Thanks for sharing it and your great Spanish coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear.
Glad you are home, too. Sounds like you will be cooler and have less housework in the future, too.
Always nice to be back home isn't it... and I'll take that heat too! We have ceiling fans in addition to air conditioning. I use a special duster and stand on a chair to reach them to clean- except for one which the fan blades come off and on quite easily.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try Spanish coffee- I bet it's nice and strong the way I like it. Happy T day!
Lovely pics of your trip. Your breakfast looks yummy though I'll skip the coffee in favor of tea. My BIL installed new ceiling lights for me in the kitchen, hallway and bedrooms. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had happy travels and enjoyed visiting your family! It sounds like you've got a guest week now your back home, enjoy 😀. The sandwich and coffee look yummy too! Wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "bacon" lol Yes, please :) It sounds like you had a great trip, but it is always nice to get home. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteLovely scenery! I'm sure you must have enjoyed that breakfast after your drive! It must be great to get back to warm weather! I'm sure you new lights will look great! Happy T day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good journey home. I'm familiar with the route, but as I don't drive, we usually have an overnight stop somewhere. (And stretching our holiday a bit. We are always so glad to be back in Spain, that we dawdle a bit on the way back)
ReplyDeleteThat bacon boccadillo looks very scrummy. And the lovely Spanish coffee of course needs no comment. (I always have a 'cortado')
Ceiling fans, mmm, I still have them and yes, they have to be cleaned, but I clean them just before the summer starts. Hubby gets onto the ladder and unscrews them. In winter we live upstairs in an apartment with huge windows and a fire place. I summer we move downstairs where it is cooler and that is where the fans are.
Happy T-Day.
Hugs,
Lisca
Your bacon bocadilla looks delicious, Jan. I bet it's good to be home. We just got home from a trip too. We bought new curtains and are excited to have them hung for a fresh look. Like you sound about your new home improvement projects.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Eileen xx
OH you must be excited to be home since I think you've been gone awhile. It is great to go away but also good to get home. I guess that's why we call it home. Hope it was a wonderful T day.Hugs-Erika
